Aim of the Course:

 

To enable a candidate to act as an appointed person in an emergency situation, to take charge of the first aid arrangements, including looking after equipment and calling the emergency services when required.

 

The course is designed for: 

 

People who wish to gain a working knowledge of basic first aid

 

 

People acting as the work place first aider

 

 

People assisting a qualified first aider

 

Syllabus:

 

Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in a emergency situation

 

 

Complete Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and choking

 

 

Be competent at first aid management for the unconscious casualty including seizure management

 

 

Be competent at managing first aid situations for wounds and bleeding

 

 

Be competent in the use of first aid equipment, alongside prevention of cross infection and the recording of incidents

 

Assessment:

 

Continual assessment by the course tutor on practical skills 

 

 

Multiple chocie paper 7questions 5 correct to pass. All learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the units must be achieved in order for the learner to be deemed competent and pass the qualification

 

Pre-Requisites:

 

Be 16 years of age

 

Validity of Award:

 

36 months
